The St. Katherine of Siena School Board of Limited Jurisdiction (BLJ) is a group of parishioners and community members who have come together as volunteers and experts in their fields to work for a common initiative: the long-term sustainability and growth of St. Katherine of Siena School. At the forefront of the Board’s work is the continuation of the strong traditions and Catholic education for the youngest members of the SKS faith community. Through board meetings and committee work, the BLJ works in conjunction with Father Kennedy set specific goals, make strategic decisions and be proactive in ensuring the school’s prosperity for the present and far into the future.
Sue has been a member of St. Katherine of Siena Parish for more than 20 years. She has worked for over 30 years in association management as Executive Vice President of a for-profit association management company, leading her to an understanding of both the nonprofit world of associations and the for-profit service firm objectives. In April 2012, Sue assumed the position of Director of Educational Services at Association Headquarters in Mount Laurel, NJ. Sue received the 2009 AMC institute Lifetime Achievement Award and the 2008 Leadership Award from the ASAE – AMC Section Council. She also has a part-time marketing role for the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau (PCVB). Sue is actively involved in strategic planning at St. Katherine’s Church and is a staunch supporter of the fight against breast cancer. She views her greatest accomplishment as raising her two successful adult daughters.
Jim Fagan has been a member of St. Katherine of Siena Parish since 1986. He is a graduate of Our Lady of Ransom Parish School and Father Judge High School. Jim is a thirty year veteran of the Philadelphia Police Department, retiring in 2004. He has been married for more than 25 years to wife, Linda, and is the father of James and Katherine, both graduates of SKS.
Father Paul M. Kennedy has been a priest of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia since May of 1977. Before becoming the Pastor of St. Katherine of Siena Parish in 2005, Father was assigned for 24 years in the educational apostolate. Serving in four different high schools as a teacher, administrator and principal has given Father a deep love for Catholic education and an appreciation for the dedication that a faculty brings every day to the classroom. Since arriving at St. Katherine's, Father has been a constant presence in our school and a true supporter of our goal to assist students to succeed in the present while preparing them for the future.
Carol Buchsbaum has been the business manager at St. Katherine of Siena School Parish and School since 2006. She has been married for 38 years, is the proud mother of three grown daughters and grandmother of six.
Mark Adelsberger has been a member of St. Katherine of Siena Parish since 1991. He has been a licensed mortgage banker since 1981 and is currently Shareholder, Vice President and CFO of Boulevard Mortgage Company. He is a graduate of Father Judge High School and has a strong involvement in Father Judge High School Alumni Association (President), Father Judge High School Board of Advisors, Friends of Father Judge High School (Director), St. Hubert High School Board of Advisors, St. Hubert High School Admissions Committee (Chair) and Friends of St. Hubert (Vice-Chair). Mark is married with three daughters and one granddaughter.
Dr. Joe Gillespie is beginning his 13th year as Dean of the Division of Education and Human Services at Neumann University. He has served in various positions in the field of education during his more than 35 year career. He and his wife, Tricia, are members of St. Katherine of Siena Parish; they are the parents of ten children and the grandparents of 18.
Bob's family has belonged to St Katherine’s Parish for 36 years. His four children are alumni of St. Katherine’s Grade School. Bob is retired after working in the Financial Services Industry for 40 years. Recently he has served as a volunteer in the rectory helping to prepare parish financial reports. During his time in the parish he has served on the Parish Council and CYO Board of Directors. He was also a lector for several years.
Susan has been a member of St. Katherine of Siena parish for over 16 years. She is a Certified Public Accountant who received her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Villanova University. She began her career as a senior auditor at the firm of Main Hurdman. From there, she went to the Academy of Natural Sciences, first as Controller and then as Vice President of Finance and Administration. In 1999, she became Director of Finance and Administration for The Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM). Susan is responsible for accounting, customer service, facility management, human resources and legal matters. She provides general oversight of all budgetary and financial matters of the Society. Susan has six children, five graduated from SKS.
Jason graduated from St. Katherine of Siena in 1987, Father Judge HS in1991, and Albright College in 1995. He taught at St. John Neumann HS before landing a permanent position at Father Judge in 1996. He was at Judge from 1996 until 2008; during his time there he was a History Teacher, Vice Principal, Disciplinarian, Football and Lacrosse Coach, Rugby Founder, Athletic Director, Junior AOH Founder, and Weightroom Moderator.In 2008, he was asked to join the Office of Catholic Education staff for the Archdiocese as the Director of Secondary School Services. Currently, he serves as the Deputy Secretary for Education with the Archdiocese of Philadelphia; Government Advocate for Catholic Education; Political Lobbyist with the Commonwealth of PA; and Moderator of CYO and PCL Athletics. He occasionally guest teaches at Holy Family University in their Sports Management Department. He is married with two children.
